In our lab, we combine experimentation, analytical chemistry, microbiology, and bioinformatics to unravel the mysteries of the microbiome and its impact on human health. From exploring microbial adaptation and response to various stimuli to identifying common behavioral patterns across species, our research spans diverse areas. We use disease models like Parkinson’s and inflammatory bowel disease to study bacterial adaptation. Additionally, we design synthetic microbial communities to engineer more effective strategies for microbiome reprogramming

Whether you're seeking an internship, working on a research project, or considering Erasmus training, we welcome your enthusiasm! Simply fill out our application form below, and Sahar will be in touch to schedule a meeting if applicable. We're excited to hear about your scientific ideas and visions.
Undergraduate Thesis Work for External University Students
Students from other universities are welcome to conduct their undergraduate thesis work with our research group. While the degree will be awarded by your home institution, you will need to find an academic there who can formally oversee your thesis. If you are interested, fill out our application form below, and Sahar will be in touch to schedule a meeting if applicable.
Summer Students
We sometimes accommodate students for summer projects lasting at least eight weeks. These positions require advance planning. PhD candidates
While we don't currently have open positions, we welcome PhD candidates who can secure their own scholarship.
Postdocs
Reach out to Sahar to discuss research ideas, perspectives, and potential grant applications. We're particularly interested in researchers who bring their own funding.
